Baidu management’s new book “Intelligent Revolution” is on the market, Robin Li writes a preface to talk about AI

AsiaIndustrial NetNews: On the morning of April 11, the new book “Intelligent Revolution” co-authored by Baidu Chairman and CEO Li Yanhong was officially launched.

Today I learned about the preface written by Li Yanhong himself.

The full name of “Intelligent Revolution” is “Intelligent Revolution – Embracing Social, Economic and Cultural Changes in the Age of artificial intelligence“. The main creative team is Baidu’s top management team and a team of scientists. It puts forward the basic standards of intelligence, depicts the upcoming intelligent society, and reflects on the challenges that human beings will face.

In the preface, Robin Li reviewed the scene of studying artificial intelligence when he studied in the United States, and made an analysis of the conditions for the real realization of the current artificial intelligence wave: big data, algorithms and scene applications.

Li Yanhong also said that he believes that artificial intelligence may develop in three stages, namely: the first stage, weak artificial intelligence; the second stage, strong artificial intelligence; the third stage, super artificial intelligence. In fact, all current artificial intelligence technologies, no matter how advanced, are weak artificial intelligences, which can only be similar to human beings in a certain field, but cannot surpass human beings.

Regarding the current “artificial intelligence threat theory”, Robin Li expressed optimism. He said: “In my opinion, artificial intelligence will never reach that stage, and it is very likely that even strong artificial intelligence will not reach it. In the future, machines can be infinitely close to people. ability, but can never surpass human ability.”

The Baidu chairman also pointed out that there are two major characteristics of the current development of the artificial intelligence industry.industryThe investment from the world has surpassed that of the academia, and scientific talents are continuously investing in the commercial application of artificial intelligence. Second, in the attractiveness of AI talents between China and the United States, China has begun to have a more optimistic trend, and the government’s attention has begun to play a role.

Robin Li emphasized in the preface that “a great technological change comparable to the industrial revolution is coming.”

Through “Intelligent Revolution”, Baidu’s executive team also described in detail the development and changes of artificial intelligence over the past half a century in 280,000 words, depicting the intelligent picture of society, economy, culture and all walks of life.

It is worth mentioning that the book also incorporates Baidu’s current AR technology. Readers can scan the pictures in the book with Baidu’s mobile phone or the “Intelligent Revolution” App, and they will show Baidu’s brain, unmanned vehicles, and Xiaodu.robotand other three-dimensional animation effects, and can interact with readers in various forms in the form of voice. The following is Robin Li’s preface to “Intelligent Revolution”:

The world is excited about the coming AI revolution. It’s a feeling I felt when I was in Silicon Valley at the beginning of the internet boom more than 20 years ago. This also reminds me of the earlier scene when I was studying artificial intelligence courses in the United States. In China, I studied information management, and when I came to the United States, I studied computer science. I’m not very interested in hardware-related courses, but when I talk about artificial intelligence, I’m very excited, thinking that this is the future of computer science and even human beings. I learned this course very well, but after doing some research, I found that artificial intelligence has no application opportunities and cannot solve practical problems. Everyone is full of hope for artificial intelligence, and if they really test it in the market, they will immediately hit a wall. So at that time, I was quite disappointed, so I had to bury this interest silently.

But the dream was always there. With the development of the computer networking industry, especially the advancement of search engines, hope is back.

In the more than ten years of the great development of search engines, I and some of my fellow travelers have gradually realized that artificial intelligence has gradually begun to play a role. Search engines have been pushing the ceiling of computer science. Almost every level of computer science, from hardware to software algorithms to data, is being continuously advanced, and one day it will definitely touch the direction of artificial intelligence. Try it out in search and find that artificial intelligence is effective, and it feels different from the application of artificial intelligence in any field in the past.

We immediately wonder, why does it work in this scenario? Our conclusion is that massive data, stronger and stronger computing power, and lower and lower computing costs have converged in the field of search, paving the way for the return of artificial intelligence.

If the Internet has changed the information infrastructure, then the mobile Internet has changed the way re
