The RoboMasters competition was born in 2015. It is sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the All-China Federation of Students and the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and initiated and undertaken by DJI. It is one of the largest robotics competitions in the world. Different from other competitions, RoboMasters adopts the form of battle, and the two Robots face each other with live ammunition on the battlefield. This year’s RoboMasters National Robotics Competition for College Students attracted 228 teams from more than 160 universities around the world, and nearly 7,000 young engineers signed up for the competition. The South China University of Technology team won the third place, and the Shenzhen University team won the fourth place.
At present, there are more than 3,000 robot-related companies in Shenzhen, including 200 professional robot companies, with an annual output value of more than 48 billion yuan. DJI, the organizer of the competition, ranks among the top 50 robot companies in the world. Shenzhen has identified robots, wearable devices and smart equipment as future industries since 2013, and has introduced supporting policies and measures. From 2014 to 2020, the municipal finance will arrange 500 million yuan each year to set up special funds for the development of robots, wearable devices and intelligent equipment industries to support core technology research and innovation capabilities, cultivation and introduction of key links in the Industrial chain, and the development of key enterprises. , Industrialization project construction, etc. In 2015, the city’s future industrial scale exceeded 400 billion yuan, becoming a new growth point for the innovative economy.
